HACIENDA OF STYLE

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

There is something irresistibly romantic about the idea of a colonial-era Spanish estate. Nathaniel Goldberg’s latest editorial for Numéro, “Hacienda,” perfectly captures this mood and without showing much of the iconic architecture. The beautiful and stark images leave us with just the right amount of curiosity to let our imaginations run wild. We can almost imagine Mirte’s toreador boyfriend waiting patiently for her to finish the photo shoot, so he can whisk her away for a romantic evening!

Julija Step | REALWAY VS. RUNWAY

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

Since her debut in the Giorgio Armani S/S 2009 show, Julija Step, short for Julija Steponaviciute, has kept a low profile.

We think there has been a master plan set for her, ensuring she comes out to shine at just the right moment. This past show season we have seen more of Julija than ever, and this is a trend we can definitely support! After all, we always welcome a girl with a beautiful physique, excellent bone structure, classic beauty, and long gorgeous locks to the runway.

LIVE-ACTION LANVIN

Monday, March 8th, 2010

We always enjoy a good behind-the-scenes video to show us how a photo shoot came to life, especially when the images seem to defy gravity. Lanvin’s S/S 2010 campaign, featuring Jamie Bochert, is one of our favorite logic-defying ads this season. The mystifying freeze-frame imagery gave us an initial impression the set was superimposed in post-production. Luckily the video below helped answer some of our questions, and with the help of one of our favorite Iggy Pop tunes!

must see

New York City offers many great cultural destinations to choose from. Some art-based institutions are permanent and offer New Yorkers revolving exhibitions of awe, beauty, visual stimulation and inspiration. Then, there are art events that take place over short periods of time, creating an excitement and a buzz, reminding us that if we don’t go soon, we will miss the spectacle entirely! The Armory Show is an important contemporary art fair that takes place once a year in New York City, playing host to some of the world’s leading galleries. We enjoy being witness to such a unique gathering of gallerists, artists, patrons, and those with an interest in looking at art. You never know who you will run into into at the Armory Show; we’ll be there this weekend!

Julia, queen of bondi

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Over the years, we have met lots of fantastic Australian models. The girls are usually bubbly and fun, with an inherent knack for finding great parties on the New York hipster scene. The Aussie beauties are all usually sporting an enviable tan, so when we met Julia Nobis, we were surprised to hear she hailed from the land down under. Her fair skin would lead us to believe she was from Ireland or Norway.  Julia actually grew up in Sydney, near some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We are guessing she used strong sun-block to keep her skin so perfectly porcelain!

ORDER NOW!

There’s nothing quite like a beautifully photographed catalog to put us in the mood for purchasing new wardrobe essentials. A great example of an inspirational catalog we love to receive in the mail, is the one from Barneys. The latest edition was shot by one of our favorite photographers, Walter Pfeiffer. We love the vibrant colors, subtle humor and coquette narrative that Mr. Pfeiffer does so well.

Joan Smalls | REALWAY VS. RUNWAY

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

Joan Smalls is a classic beauty, her features are perfectly symmetrical, her complexion is flawless, her lips produce a perfect pout, her eyebrows are strong with a beautifully defined arch, and her face is the enviable oval shape. Therefore, we were not surprised to find out this young girl was selected for almost every major show. When a model looks this alluring on the runway, it’s basically a no-brainer.

She’s a model

Monday, March 1st, 2010

We recently came upon a video from the band Kraftwerk which covers a topic we are always interested in — attraction to models! While watching the vintage runway footage, we can’t help but notice that although much time has passed since the days of poodle skirts, the love of models is still just as prevalent today as it was back then, both in the 80’s when Kraftwerk sang the song and in the 50’s film footage shown below.

falling for sedene

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Sedene is the latest newcomer to the runway scene. Hailing from Jamaica, we can only imagine NYC’s weather forecast made for a rough debut season. She was a real trooper and managed to meet important clients regardless of the snow piling up all around her. Luckily, this beauty conquered the cold and has gone on to explore the runways of Europe. The results of our recent go-see with Sedene make it easy to see why everyone is falling for her.
