If you need any incentive to jump into the pile of work sitting on your desk this week, let us provide a little motivation. Raquel Zimmermann not only manages to look totally sexy, she also lip synchs like she is 100% rock star, and dances her heart out in the Lady Gaga + Nick Knight + SHOWstudio video below. So much so she literally passes out at the end of her fun filled performance. Looking how much energy Raquel put into this fun video, she has managed to inspire us to energize ourselves for fashion wee
We think Kelly Moreira is pretty stellar. She was born and raised in Paris, so we know the chic Parisian style and sensibility is in her blood. Kelly was very lovely and easy to talk to, so we learned her parents hail from Cape Verde, hence her Portuguese last name.
As it turns out, we’re not the only ones who were impressed with this young woman – she’s already been shot for a Uniqlo campaign. We are sure there is more to come.
Just in time for the 2010 relaunch of the Versus by Versace line comes this stellar fragrance campaign shot by the visionary Craig McDean. Versus was founded by Gianni Versace in 1989 as a secondary line to Versace Couture, and we couldn’t think of a better time for this relaunch.
It’s always a challenge to portray a fragrance in a visual medium, but this fast-paced, suggestive video is spot on. If we weren’t so entranced by the ad, we’d be out buying the perfume as we speak!
Karolin Wolter has been racking up shows ever since she first stepped out on the scene last year. We’ve seen her in dozens of shows, and when we visited Style.com to brush up on her repertoire, we were amazed to see how far she’s come. And how could she not? With her perfect stature and striking features, Karolin has been an ideal model for every show she’s walked. Take a peek at her runway looks below, and you’ll see what we mean. Those icy eyes!
Video is still an exciting new medium for fashion advertisers to explore creative concepts. The new Shiseido video was shot by the visionary artist in this field today, Nick Knight. In this beautiful and artful take on the Shiseido Future Solution product line, we see the marvelous Raquel Zimmermann modeling her glowing skin, while she gazes off into the distance. We enjoyed the gentle xylophone sound throughout the video, which reminded us of the chime accompanying the touch of a magic wand.
Marike Le Roux is the kind of new-face who leaves a lasting impression, not only because of her striking beauty, but for her unique life story as well. Born in South Africa and raised in South Korea, Marike speaks Korean fluently. These days she calls Los Angeles home, but with a killer runway season and a Sonia Rykiel campaign already under her belt, we are guessing globetrotting is in her near future.
We love to watch the creative vision of designers come to life on the runway, in the pages of magazines, on roadside billboards, and on stylish New Yorkers walking the streets. When we saw the Donna Karan show last September, our initiral reaction was: “Wow! What a great, simple hairstyle, with classic wearable clothes!” We’ve tried the side-swept look out ourselves, and it’s great to see the style has stuck around in the gorgeous Spring ad campaign, shot by Patrick Demarchelier. We think he did an incredible job of interpreting the creative concept of the runway show.
Denisa has a look that seems to burn in one’s mind. We think it’s her wide-set, seductive blue-green eyes that characterizes this young Czech beauty. Take a look at some of her recent runway bookings and let us know which Denisa is your favorite.
It isn’t easy to keep one’s mind away from daydreams about the upcoming spring/summer season. It’s even more difficult with all the spring and summer ad campaigns debuting this time of year. As you can imagine, we are huge fans of the glossies, but after last season’s televised runway shows and the hype surrounding live streaming and video footage, we’re especially excited about new video ad campaigns. Jamie Isaia’s video for the Loeffler Randal S/S 2010 campaign just screams of summer and all the beauty it brings. WE LOVE! What do you think?
New Yorkers are a proud bunch, and rightly so - few cities are the focus of so many movies, songs, books and cultural references. Sunday’s NFL finals game is just one more excuse to cheer for New York.
But remember the simpler times? Times when spending $5.00 on a night out was outrageous? You might not (we certainly don’t!), but at a recent documentary screening at the National Arts Club we had the opportunity to glimpse into this romantic past.
The director Dore Hammond is a New Yorker, naturally. As the daughter of Ford model Marie Mahar, she had the opportunity to witness and come in contact with the remarkable individuals who shaped Manhattan in the 1950s and 60s. The documentary was a unique opportunity to hear about those times. Our favorite part, by far, was the ending, in which there is a unanimous agreement that New York is a very lovable town. We concur!
