Alexandra Agoston | Realway vs Runway

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

Alexandra Agoston is unique, all six feet of her. The towering, exotic Aussie hails from Sydney, but she was first discovered by a model scout in Paris, naturally. Since then she has been a constant staple on the runway, especially during the couture shows. Take a look at her looks from this past season, and let us know which you think suits her best: the dramatic 80s updo, or the sexy 90s vamp

SOMETHING BIG SOMETHING SMALL

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

While we sat here all bundled up and hard at work in NYC last weekend, many creative types were down in Miami for Art Basel, soaking up the sun and enjoying the artistic energy buzzing in the air. This is not to say people weren’t working hard in Miami, the gallerists and artists certainly were; it’s just that they were undoubtedly much warmer.

The New York Times Style Magazine sent photographer Dan Martensen and second unit director Crystal Moselle to Miami to capture some of this year’s most buzzed-about artists at Art Basel Miami Beach 2009. Over the course of the last week they have interviewed 6 artists by asking them to discuss “something big and something small.” Throughout the next week the T Magazine blog will post video diaries that Crystal Moselle captured to accompany Dan Martensen’s portraits. Interviews with Aurel Schmidt and Shepard Fairey have already been posted. Stay tuned for future installments featuring Pharrell, Agathe Snow, and more!

Ben Jones - Friday, December 11
Agathe Snow - Monday, December 14

BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S

Monday, December 7th, 2009

All the style blogs have been buzzing that the 60s are the new 80s, and we can’t help but think of Audrey Hepburn’s style in Breakfast at Tiffany’s whenever we hear it. With A-Line, Swing, and Cocoon coats back for winter fashion, Hepburn’s iconic orange coat is the ultimate in vintage wardrobe inspiration. Not only is the official trailer for the film entertaining in its own right, it is literally a reference guide for anyone looking to spruce up her wardrobe this holiday season!

More Mirte

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Every season, without fail, a young army of new faces manages to conquer our hearts. The best girls stand the test of time and leave their mark over several seasons or years. If we had to sum up this season with one name, that name would be Mirte. With a face so delicate and refined, we think Mirte would be the perfect subject for a Francesco Clemente painting. Wouldn’t you agree?

CYCLING INTO 2010

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

Everyone loves to find the perfect wall calendar to hang up as soon as the new year roles around. Whether you opt for beautiful landscapes, nostalgic cartoons, or comical characters, there is certainly a calendar out there for you.

The Swiss Institute recently released a limited edition 2010 calendar and we think this is the one for us. It’s called “Artists on Their Bicycles New York,” and we can’t think of a better way to describe it. The numbered edition of 500 was designed by Li, Inc., and features images of artists with their bikes on the streets of NYC. The roster is impressive, but our favorite (of course!) is the Image Archive’s very own Collier Schorr!

CERTIFIED ORIGINAL

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

For those who have yet to hear the news, we are super excited to announce that Art + Commerce now represents Robert Maxwell! We have been following his portrait series “The Originals” in T: The New York Time Style Magazine since its inception in 2004, and we come to appreciate his clean, classical representation of celebrities and public figures more with each new edition. He shoots the most current, influential and iconic figures of today, and we savor the opportunity to see them out of their traditional context; we always learn something new from his work.

Suvi Koponen | Realway vs Runway

If you’re looking for an icy stare provided by warm honey-brown eyes, and a head of pin-straight and perfectly tousled blonde hair, then Suvi is your dream girl. With a first-season debut as a CK exclusive, we must say this model started her walk down the runway on the right foot. We think she looks just as stunning au naturel as she does in full hair and makeup. Take a look at her super chic runway bookings below. Which look do you think she wore best?
