If you’re planning to be in Paris next Tuesday, May 26, we recommend you check out the opening at the Brachfeld Gallery. The show features drawings and illustrations by Cédric Rivrain. Rivrain has been working as a fashion illustrator since the age of 18, and has collaborated with publications such as Tokion, Numéro and A magazine, as well as designers like John Galliano and Martine Sitbon. The son of a doctor, anatomy has been of continuing interest to Rivrain, and consequently influences his work. Unlike his commercial work, the drawings in this exhibition blend his personal fascinations with bandages and the human body with his knowledge and skill at depicting contemporary beauty.

There has been much buzz about the new Star Trek movie lately, and after seeing the film we must admit we were not only entertained by the plot but by the colorful cast of characters as well! If there is any truth to Gene Roddenberry’s vision of the future, we’ll all be sporting some pretty rad, cutting edge fashions in the centuries to come!
For now, however, we most often find allusions to these other-wordly creatures of the future in the pages of fashion magazines and beauty supplements. We thumbed through some mags and picked a few of our fave images by photographers Sølve Sundsbø and Richard Burbridge. Both artists are well known for their attraction to extraterrestrial women’s fashion, and rule the editorial pages with their stark, celestial lighting and cosmic interpretations of beauty. Can you tell us which photographer shot each of the images below?
We’ve been waiting for a good time to write about Cole Mohr, and we decided the middle of May would be perfect. Why, you might ask? Well, just take a look at his tattoo!
What’s not to love! Cole has the timeless, irresistible quality of the baby-faced bad boy you fell for, in high school homeroom. Just what fashion needs: a break from the larger-than-life, overly muscular, oiled up male model. It’s like our high school crush has been cast in some of the coolest men’s fashion campaigns!
With the heat of summer 2009 increasing every day, we have been looking at all the new summery editorials for some last minute shopping inspiration. Some of us are going for the sleek jumpsuit look, while others are opting for a more earthy, bohemian dress and sandals look. We thought we could spice up our looks with some bangles and retro shades as well. Not sure what the boys will be doing, but since they are on set today, we can’t ask them! The climate we are looking forward to is that dry warm weather in all of the editorials; you know, the weather that allows us to wear all our fave little numbers and also keeps our hair and skin nice and fresh!
The most recent issue of British Vogue features an editorial by Patrick Demarchelier, which just about sums up our ideal summer wardrobe in all its glory. Shot in India with the gorgeous Daria W, we can’t help but wish we were there!
It’s been another exciting day in the office; we just launched the renaissance man Glenn O’Brien on our web site!
O’Brien began working in the publishing industry during his grad-school years at Columbia University, when he landed at job at Andy Warhol’s young Interview magazine. Over the next few years he worked at Rolling Stone, Playboy, and even High Times, before returning to Interview to write a regular column. He has edited numerous publications, including Madonna’s infamous Sex book, and has published catalog essays in monographs for artists such as Andy Warhol, Richard Prince, and Christopher Wool. He also produced the notorious all-access television show “Glenn O’Brien’s TV Party,” and has collaborated on the creative conception of landmark advertising campaigns, like the CK One ads of 2004.
Today, he is the CEO of Brant Publications, which produces several magazines including the one that set the course for his entire career, Interview. We think it’s safe to say that Glenn O’Brien is a modern-day renaissance man!
It seems we’ve run out of confetti celebrating all these big announcements, so we’ll have to put an order in for more!
Today is a special day for us. We don’t get to start off press announcements with a drum roll every day, but without further adieu: Drum roll please!
We are stoked to announce that Art + Commerce now represents Walter Pfeiffer! Pfeiffer’s unique career has spanned more than three decades and has changed our perception of the struggle between realism and glamour in photography. His candid, vernacular portraits of friends, strangers, and models are just as relevant today as they were when he began taking pictures in the 1970s!
Born in Switzerland, Pfeiffer began taking pictures to use as inspiration for his drawings and other artworks. His free-spirited, non-technical approach to the beauty and eroticism of the human form quickly achieved cult status and has since helped define an entire era of photography.
Check out some of his most recent work with Eva Herzigova in the May issue of French Vogue, and read a great interview with him from Interview magazine here!

Liu Wen came into our office and had such a strong presence, we couldn’t help but stop and just stare at her for a moment. Her graceful posture and calm, penetrating stare simply cannot be put into blogging words. Judging by her amazing book, we are not the only ones who feel this way!
