Clever Klein

Thursday, January 29th, 2009

If you Google “Calvin Klein controversy,” you get somewhere in the region of 83,900 hits. The results include the infamous “kiddie porn” accusations of the mid-1990s, as well as the so-called “Nipplegate 2″ controversy surrounding last year’s Secret Obsession fragrance commercial with Eva Mendes. (Which was banned from TV but received a LOT of attention on the web. )

The most recent scandal to ensure that the already high number gets even higher… the new CK Jeans ad. The grainy, 30 second, low-fi video shot by Steven Meisel features models Anna Selezneva, Anna Jagodzinska and Natasha Poly topless and writhing on a couch with Danny Schwarz, Vladimir Ivanov, Carson Parker and Mikus Lasmanis keeping them company. (Although the bodies are so intertwined, it is hard to distinguish who’s who!!)

We were disappointed to find out that the first TV commercial to be made for CK Jeans in over twenty years isn’t going to reach our small screens as it was originally intended as it has been deemed far too steamy for TV!

Well, we all know what a banned, “too hot” for TV ad campaign can do to sales: “I’ll take 3 pairs of what she’s wearing!!”

INTERIOR DESIGNER

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Renowned fashion designer Christian Lacroix is selling his seventeenth-century apartment in the fashionable Marais, Gay Paris’s version of Chelsea, except way way WAY more chic! Consider it the perfect little crash-pad if you want to be steps away from the Picasso Museum and Place des Vosges, the oldest square in Paris. (Your fabulous French dwelling isn’t close enough to walk to the Picasso Museum, you say? You have to take the… gasp, Metro? Quelle dommage!)

The pictures from the listing show us Lacroix’s tasteful aesthetic - vibrant and colorful, eclectic yet refined - keeping in similar form to his clothes. (We think it looks refreshingly modern and cozy as well.) As for the architectural details, the modest abode also features original Parisian details such as gilded moldings and French doors opening onto petite balconies.

Best of all, the place can be yours for a cool $2.6 million. Wait, the price is too steep for your current pied-a-terre budget? Zut Alors!

Thanks to Fashionologie.com for the great scoop!

Model Citizen

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

Just because they jet-set around the world, scale the catwalks and radiate beauty doesn’t mean models are exempt from the highest responsibilities of citizenship.

While reporting for our own duties - Jury Duty, to be specific - we ran into the ever so glamorous Missy Rayder at the downtown courthouses. Model agents often send us model booking updates, but only Missy can brag that her ever-expanding client list now includes the United States Judiciary System.

TONI TONI TONI

We love the new First Lady Michelle Obama and hope there’s truth to the rumor she will make an appearance on the cover of American Vogue in the coming months! But there’s another first lady that we’re excited about, and her name is Toni Garrn. We’re declaring Toni this season’s undisputed First Lady of Advertising Campaigns.

It seems like only a few short seasons ago, Toni’s career was launched with the Calvin Klein show exclusive. And while other girls have held this title, no model has scored so many highly coveted campaigns this season as Miss Garrn, whose page-after-page-after-page appearances in all the fashion glossies is undeniable. Below are some of the highlights from her incredible season.

How Sweet it Is

Tuesday, January 20th, 2009

Tuesday, January 20th 2009 - 11:00am - All eyes glued on CNN

Today, everyone at work took some much deserved time away from our computers to huddle around the television and watch as Obama was sworn in as the 44th President of the Country. The only thing sweeter than all of the historic pomp and circumstance were the delicious cupcakes provided by Art+Commerce.

We’re sure everyone saw the Inauguration Speech, but did you know the following fun facts?

- New First Lady Michelle wore a dress by Isabel Toledo, and “Glacier” pumps by Jimmy Choo
- Sasha and Malia wore Crewcuts by JCrew (The kids line)
- Aretha Franklin’s VERY memorable hat came from Mr. Song Millinery in Detroit
- Obama’s momentous speech lasted 17 minutes
- John Cusack scored the best VIP seats for a celebrity, and says he “felt like Zelig”
- The highest ticket price to the inauguration was $20,095 sold by an online ticket broker
- Before leaving, Bush left a note for Obama in the top drawer of his desk in the Oval Office
- Bill Clinton’s inauguration in 1997 was the first to be broadcast live over Internet.

KM35

Friday, January 16th, 2009

Kate Moss turns 35 today, and a celebration is in the works in London. But what do you get the girl who has everything?

We won’t know what Kate received as gifts until the weekend-long party comes to an end, but so far we have heard reports of Kate receiving a piano as a birthday gift. The influx of early - and extravagant - gifts speaks volumes of the public’s affection for UK’s idol, as Kate has been at winning us over for years now. If we had to pick something, PRODn thinks that the best gift the UK can give Kate Moss is Dame-dom.

If it’s good enough for Judi Dench, then it’s definitely good enough for Miss Moss!
